CONFIDENCES - ESCALE À BRISSAC
Set of gîtes and chambres d'hôtes in the heart of the village in a renovated building with five themed rooms for 15 people
Corinne and Nicolas welcome you to their superb gîte - chambre d'hôte, 250 m from the Château de Brissac. In this recently renovated 18th-century building, which is none other than the town's former school, five themed rooms are at your disposal. While the two rooms with balneotherapy will undoubtedly seduce you, you'll also fall under the spell of the superb salon on the first floor, which offers a breathtaking view over the Aubance vineyards.

Merci encore pour l’accueil
We stayed for two nights at the hotel. Before our arrival, the host insisted on payment through a bank transfer, even though our Booking.com reservation stated payment was due at the property. This early request felt unnecessary and gave the impression that we weren’t trusted as guests.
2. First Night - Alone in the Hotel
On our first night, we were the only guests. The host frequently reminded us of this, implying that we needed to keep quiet as other guests would arrive the following night. She repeatedly advised us to keep the noise down, which felt excessive.
3. Second Night - Other Guests Arrived
The second night, other guests joined the hotel, but the host’s focus on monitoring our behavior continued. She even suggested we stay out late to avoid noise disturbances, creating a sense of unwelcomeness.
4. Unusual Hospitality
Breakfast required guests to collect food from a bakery. While this wasn’t a problem, the host’s strict monitoring of our food portions was uncomfortable. She counted guests to estimate bread portions, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere.
5. Unexpected Baby Crib Fee
We were charged 25 euros for a baby crib, though this fee wasn’t mentioned on Booking.com. When she noticed one child might not be there for a night, she even considered removing the crib, despite already charging us for it.
6. Cleanliness Reminders
The host repeatedly reminded us to keep the room spotless, especially addressing my wife directly. These reminders seemed excessive as they were given even before any issues arose.
7. Overall Impression
While the hotel itself is charming, the host’s attitude made our stay uncomfortable. If she doesn’t prefer to accommodate families or guests of specific nationalities, it would be better to cancel such bookings upfront rather than accepting us only to make us feel unwelcome. Her behavior conveyed that we weren’t truly welcome, which overshadowed any positives of the stay and left a negative impression.
Now, staying at a different hotel, I feel genuinely welcomed and not constantly monitored. The difference in hospitality is remarkable, and I hope the host reconsiders her approach to ensure future guests feel more comfortable and valued.
