The League for the Protection of the Birds of Anjou was created in 1976 by about 1 200 ornithologists, and so far counts more than members. All year round, they sail through the department to study the non-domestic birds and natural environments they depend on in order to implement all the means to protect them effectively. LPO also intervenes with the public authorities (prefecture, agriculture and forestry department, etc.), the general public (more than 50 ornithological per year) and schools, to raise awareness of the beauty of birds. Awareness of other animals and information on biodiversity are all common areas of the LPO.
