It is the panoramic terrace above the submarine that was chosen by the artist, to materialize a "horizontal line" with red triangles that embraces the landscape of the harbor. Realized in 2007 as part of the Estuaire event, the work extends over 2 km. It can only be seen from a single point of view. When you move away, you see the dramatic burst of the figure and its redeployment into space. The anamorphosis of the Franco-Swiss artist takes place and invites to the roofs of the companies present on the port which are partners of this work. The port of Saint-Nazaire is an unheard of field of intervention because of the nature of the site. Felice Varini's proposal of a painted but segmented form amplifies the difficulty or even the impossibility of visually embracing, in one eye, the entire landscape. The complexity of an industrial site still in operation, which constantly fluctuates (construction and departure of boats…) adds a new dimension that the artist has been brought to account for.
