MARCHÉ DE TRENTEMOULT

Openair market

This tiny market has more than one trump card in its bag. First of all, it's 100% organic. It has been in place for about ten years and brings together 15/20 producers and traders. There are of course fruit and vegetable producers, but also butchers, pork butchers, fishmongers, cow and goat cheese producers, bakers, not forgetting winemakers and other local craftsmen making jams or herbal teas... As a bonus, a sweet smell of pancakes and take-away cakes floats in the air... Then, this small market is installed on the car park of the port of Trentemoult. That is to say at the entrance of a "postcard" village which is characterised by its pretty colourful houses and its banks of the Loire. Finally because the atmosphere is good-natured. Attended by Trentemousins and onlookers, one feels good there. One comes there on foot or by bike along the river or by Navibus if one lives on the other bank. We make a stop at the Café of the nearby port to drink a small coffee. We walk along the Quai Boissard to admire Roman Signer's Pendulum, a contemporary work of art created as part of the Voyage à Nantes (2009). In short, we take the time to stroll on a Saturday morning.

MARCHÉ D’INTÉRÊT NATIONAL

Market

Established since 1969 on the Ile de Nantes, the M.I.N. (the second largest food wholesaler market in France after Rungis) moved to Rezé at the end of February 2019. With 100 companies and more than 2,000 jobs on the new 65-hectare site, this wholesale shopping centre is part of the history of Nantes.Only market traders, grocers, restaurateurs... have access to this marketreserved for professionals. Here fruit and vegetables are sold, which represent more than half of the M.I.N.'s activity. This sector draws its strength from the regional vegetable and fruit production. It is also one of France's leading banana processing and marketing centres. Sea products are also well represented in the Halle à Marée. Flowers and plants also largely transit through here: since 1989, the Océane Fleurs market has brought together wholesalers of cut flowers, plants and accessories. It also includes important industrial bouquet shops and composition workshops. The universe of this place evokes the vibrant backstage of an activity in the heart of the night and until very early in the morning. The professionals who bring it to life are as passionate about their products as they are about their work.
