Hangar 32 houses the permanent exhibition of the urban project of the island of Nantes. This rehabilitation project is a major focus of the urban development policy of the Nantes urban area. Initiated in 1989 after the closure of the Dubigeon Shipyards, the project was completed until the first phase of work was launched in 2002. Since then, it has been an island in perpetual evolution that the people of Nantes have been looking forward to visiting. Hangar 32 is a place dedicated to this major project. Opened since 2004, three days a week, this former port hangar is above all a place of exhibition and education. Thanks to numerous video animations and mock-ups spread throughout the visit, it is easy to see the philosophy of the project, the progress of the work and the potential still in the making. A flat representation of the island of Nantes makes it possible to visualize at a glance the gigantic size of the project. When we know that the development of the island of Nantes should extend over twenty years, Hangar 32 has a bright future ahead of it!
