A fascinating visit to the Musée Archéologique d'Eysses to delve into Villeneuve-sur-Lot's Gallo-Roman past.
Long closed, the museum has undergone a facelift. It is now managed by the town and its collections have been designated a "Musée de France". The rooms retrace the history of different periods (Gallic, Gallo-Roman, High Middle Ages) through collections of everyday, craft and religious objects, military items, examples of architecture and decoration... The permanent exhibition is devoted to the Gallo-Roman city of Excisum, which stood on the site of today's Eysses district. A very interesting journey into the past.
