BATTLE ROOM
A fun, interactive museum in Mons-en-Pévèle, offering activities that plunge visitors right into the heart of the Middle Ages.
The Salle des Batailles is a playful and interactive museum located in the media library of Mons-en-Pévèle. It focuses on two battles: that of Bouvines in 1214 and that of Mons-en-Pévèle in 1304. Two cities separated by only 19 km. This room offers a museographic space that confronts these two battles and plunges visitors into the heart of the Middle Ages. A perspective that makes history even more concrete, especially for the youngest. You can see the stakes, the course or the consequences of these two battles in a clear and interactive way since the playfulness is placed in the heart of the place. You will be able to try to guess the weight of a rib of mesh, lift a sword and even put on a helmet, to put yourself in the place of the fighters of the time. Above all, peace is the focus here. Following the visit, visitors are invited to make a loop in the city: a peace trail, to discover the different monuments present in the city. Workshops are also offered to all audiences: illuminations, medieval portraiture...
