Petit Futé's opinion on TRADITIONAL GAMES MUSEUM

Vintage plate 2020

At the entrance of the superb Galamé Park is the oldest house of Loon-Plage, a very beautiful Flemish farmhouse which today hosts an original place that will delight young and old: the Museum of Traditional Games. Opened since July 2009, the museum continues to carry out its mission which revolves around three key points: discover, learn and be entertained. Here it is the entire history of a region that is revisited through its games: estaminets, festivals, the game of cork, the javelin ... In the exhibition room, you will discover popular games, whether they are backyard games such as bourle or billon, or café games, school games, or fairground games. We also discover games - which we do not regret - with animals such as the famous cockfighting or goose shooting. In the game room, you will be introduced to games of skill, reflection or chance as they were practiced in the heyday of the estaminets. Spinning top, chip or frog games, Dutch or Japanese billiards will no longer hold any secrets for you. And for the more skilful, the javelin and vertical pole shooting are waiting for you! In addition, the museum offers groups a workshop with a projection and animation room to complete this already exceptional visit. The plus: possibility of renting games. An address not to be missed and to visit with family or friends for even more conviviality!
