Created in 1846, the Cambrai museum houses local and national collections gathered thanks to revolutionary seizures.

Created in 1846, the museum of Cambrai houses collections gathered thanks to revolutionary seizures. It is housed in a superb 18th-century mansion, the Hôtel de Francqueville, which has since been renovated and expanded. The visit takes place on several levels, from the basement where archaeology is highlighted (including the amazing skeletons) to the second floor where beautiful temporary exhibitions are organized. Open and accessible, a great opportunity for a family outing in Cambrai, which is well known by the locals!

joli musée, hélas sans visiteurs, personnel aimable, une personne a pris le temps d'expliquer aux enfants quelques pièces intéressantes

Nous pensions faire la visite rapidement et au finale nous y avons passer presque 3h (car nous devions partir pour une visite des souterrains que nous avions déjà réservé). Il y a divers niveau à découvrir de la préhistoire à l'art moderne c'est assez impressionnant. Les tarifs sont très accessible car pour 2 adultes et 3 enfants, nous n'avons payé que 6€. A faire !

access to the museum is special, it is better parked before and there to walk because the street does not allow easy parking.
the reception is pleasant, the plane relief is unmissable, works could be more in value and explanations owes daire more reference to local history
