Splendid vestige surmounted by an astonishing bell tower-watchtower presenting a complex architecture in Albi.

This remarkable vestige of Albi, topped by a watchtower bell tower, is one of the city's oldest buildings. Its complex architecture reflects a succession of construction campaigns blending Romanesque and Gothic styles. Of the cloister, begun in 1270 and partially destroyed during the French Revolution, only the southern gallery remains. It also features Romanesque forms (round arches) and Gothic elements (capitals, pillar decorations).

Un petit bijou hors du temps, en plein centre du vieil Albi, auquel on accède par un escalier presque caché si l'on n'y prend pas garde. Il fait bon s'y reposer à l'ombre des arcades, quand le soleil de plomb du mois d'août tombe sur la ville. Un lieu plein de sérénité en journée, joliment mis en valeur la nuit tombée. Certains soirs, la magie opère, lorsque sont organisées des soirées musicales comme elles se pratiquaient autrefois (orgue de barbarie, chant...) ou des veillées autour d'un conteur.
Il faut absolument faire le détour.

Un petit coin de calme, d'ombre et de verdure pour flâner 5 minutes, en plein centre. Ce n'est pas toujours très propre, hélas. Au milieu, des plantes aromatiques et quelques arbustes nous permettent de flâner un peu. L'accès pour y arriver n'est pas toujours évident à trouver !
