A family estate since 1901, this is certainly one of the most promising Cahors wines of its generation. In the Ilbert family, there is the great-grandfather, the founder, then the grandfather, the father (who we still meet in the vineyards) and Julien, the son and his wife Sophie. Both have taken up the torch of a terroir that they defend and promote. With 23 hectares on the limestone plateaus, Combel-la-Serre is today 5 wines in AOP Cahors and 3 in IGP Côtes du Lot (a red, a rosé and a white wine). The domain has the organic label.

DOMAINE DU PRINCE

A very simple welcome that smells of authenticity, common sense and the know-how of the pure vine grower. Jacques Jouve, who has since been succeeded by his son Didier and grandson Léon, whose family has been producing Cahors wine on the same property for more than three centuries, could have been lou prince, the ancestor who delivered wine to the king of France. Back home, the villagers would have nicknamed him: lou prince, the one who saw the king. The Domaine du Prince is aged in oak barrels. The traditional cuvée is an excellent value for money.

In this predestined place, because this Saint Vincent is the patron saint of winegrowers, 17 ha on the edge of the meanders of the Lot, the malbec grape variety blossoms to give powerful and elegant black wines, a guarantee obtained by a controlled yield. Four malbec crus: domaine le Bout du Lieu with violet scents, Gold medal winner at the Concours général agricole 2017, l'Orbe Noir with black fruit aromas, l'Empyrée woody and spicy, a 100% malbec from 30-year-old vines and finally the rosé des nanas, with white flower and apricot fragrances.

Between Douelle and Luzech, Serge Bessières, who represents the third generation of winegrowers in the family, and Caroline market the wine of the estate, whose vines are over 40 years old. To taste, the cuvée de l'ancêtre haut de gamme, 100% malbec, which mixes its scents of violets, blackberries and blackcurrants with a delicate aroma of spices, or the cuvée des générations, aged eighteen months in barrels. Also noteworthy are the Cuvée des générations with its complex aromas of blackcurrant, pepper, leather and vanilla, the Château du Plat Faisant and the Petit Rosé.
