Visit the caves of Cougnac to dive into the heart of prehistory, and understand the meaning of the paintings

The two caves at Cougnac have been open to the public for almost fifty years. Combining natural curiosities and figurative drawings, these caves allow you to plunge (literally!) into the heart of prehistory. A 1h10 guided tour will help you understand the significance of the paintings, the use of the rooms, and visualize the men and women who appropriated the site nearly 25,000 years ago. The guide will also explain how the stalactites and stalagmites in the caves came to be, which today form natural arches and chandeliers.

Price: adults €8.50, children (aged 5 to 12) €6.

Duration: 1h10 guided tour.

Deux grottes en une seule visite, l’une avec un chapiteau de concrétions magnifique, l’autre avec des peintures rupestres remarquablement conservées : une pépite loin des gros flux touristiques :))

Excellent two part visit to a cave full of stalagmites, stalactites, columns etc, then another with prehistoric art. Poorly lit and I think some detail was lost in translation but still a great experience
