A long time ago, this beach was the meeting place of pterosaurs and other animals that came to feed.
La Plage aux Ptérosaures opens its doors to the public and lets you travel back in time. In the Cretaceous, a sunny lagoon lay at Crayssac, attracting land and sea animals. The footprints discovered in the limestone over forty years ago have enabled archaeologists to reconstruct the environment and behavior of these prehistoric creatures. A well-presented guided tour offers the public a link with our prehistory. The site will enthrall children and adults alike. A must-see!

Opening time and information on THE PTEROSAURUS BEACH
Open from April to December. Open Wednesday to Friday and Sunday, 11am to 6pm; Saturday 2pm to 6pm. In July and August, Saturdays 2 pm to 8 pm + Tuesdays 11 am to 6 pm. Free for children under 5. Adults: €9. Children (aged 6 to 14): €6. Annual pass: €21, general guided tour: €9. Please contact us. Children welcome. Guided tours. Store.

La Plage aux Ptérosaures is a real hidden treasure that you absolutely must discover in Crayssac. This exceptional paleontological site, classified as a National Nature Reserve, will take you back to the Jurassic era, 150 million years ago. Here, you'll discover the footprints of prehistoric animals, including pterosaurs and dinosaurs. Other reptiles, such as crocodiles and turtles, have also left traces of their passage on this Crayssac beach. A guided tour of this site will enable you to discover more about its paleontological collections. An enthusiastic guide will accompany you through the excavated areas, explaining in detail the fascinating footprints and the reconstruction methods used by paleontologists. For your convenience, Plage aux Ptérosaures offers free parking close to the reception area. A picnic area is also available, allowing you to relax with family or friends after exploring the wonders of the past. Before you leave, be sure to visit the on-site boutique. Here you'll find an exclusive selection of quality figurines, locally printed textiles, postcards and many other souvenir gifts.
