In the heart of Lourdes, Les Halles offers an immersion in local gastronomy, with the finest Pyrenean produce and expert advice from producers. On Thursdays and Saturdays, an outdoor market extends the offer. This large market offers a veritable palette of colors and flavors, with stalls of local cheeses, Bigorre black pork charcuterie, traditional pastries and fresh fruit and vegetables. This brightly colored store on the outskirts of the Sanctuary is a real treat for the eyes. The shelves are overflowing with sweets, cakes and cookies. The specialty is the traditionally made shortbread and filled cookies with chocolate chips, fruit, or caramel. The navettes simply flavored with orange blossom are irresistible, but they are closely rivaled by nougats and caramels, in papillotes or squares. Marshmallows, caramelized almonds, organic spreads and meringues complete the range.

At the end of the little cul-de-sac opposite the town hall, Confiserie des Gaves revives the flavors of yesteryear with its handcrafted sweets. The establishment is renowned for its respect for traditional know-how. It offers a wide range of sweets: fruity, chocolate or almond-flavored Gave pebbles, sweets made with local honey, pine sap, violets and blueberries, mint pastilles and old-fashioned "pyréline" pralines. The range of products is very large and one could stay for hours to rummage around!
