At night, its illuminated cross may have caught your eye in the distance. At an altitude of 1,000 m, it overlooks the city and it is often thanks to it that you can see the Pic du Jer. Since 1900, the funicular allows to climb it, in complete safety. It is a small trip whose charm has no equal. Before taking place in the cabin, look at the summit which dominates you with its splendor. In a few minutes you will be at the top. You pass through two tunnels. Wherever you put your eyes, the show is magnificent. Closed from November to March. Open from late March to early November. Open daily from 9:30 am to 6 pm. Last departure 5.20pm (6.20pm in summer). Free for children under 6. Adults: €13.50 (one-way ticket €9). Children (6 to 17 years): €10.50. Family package €33. Return ticket + one dish €23.50. Adult mountain bike 21 € per day (several mountain bike packages available). From Lourdes, the Pic du Jer offers one of the finest panoramas in the Pyrenees. This natural site lies at an altitude of 900 metres, just a stone's throw from the town center. It promises an exceptional viewpoint with 360-degree views of the Pyrenean peaks, the town and its lake, Tarbes and the Vallée des Gaves. On a clear day, you can even see the town of Pau. For quick and easy access, climb aboard the century-old funicular railway designed by engineer Stéphenson and inaugurated in 1900. A hundred meters of footpath take you to the top of the hill, after covering a 1,100-meter track with a gradient varying between 28 and 56%. With a maximum speed of 11 km/h, this means of transport guarantees a smooth ride. It has two cabins, each with a capacity of 80 people, so you can enjoy the imposing views as you make your way through the countryside.
