Underground Basilica of St. Pius X in oval of 201 m by 81 m, decorated with 39 paintings of saints and blessed, and 25 gems

The underground Basilica of St. Pius X impresses with its upside-down ship's hull shape, measuring 201 metres by 81 metres, making it the world's largest sanctuary. With a capacity of 25,000, it was consecrated on March 25, 1958 for the centenary of the Apparitions by the future Pope John XXIII. This architectural and cultural jewel is also adorned with 39 canvases depicting various saints and blesseds, as well as 52 gems.

Ensemble architectural immense et impressionnant, la construction remonte à l'année 1958 et permet d'accueillir 25.000 pèlerins elle est quasiment invisible de la surface et n'a pas vieillie

Elle est moche, trapue tel un gros crabe ou scarabée, nom qui lui est donné; mais qu'est-ce qu'on y est bien !! quand elle est remplie et que 5000 personnes prient à l'unisson !
Chaque année, la retrouvée est un bonheur ! :)

Lorsqu'on rentre dans cette Basilique, on peut se sentir tout petit face à cet impressionnant édifice souterrain de béton. Sa forme peut nous suggérer une coque de bateau renversée. Je vous conseille d'y aller lors d'une messe internationale (mercredi ou dimanche) pendant la saison des pèlerinages car les célébrations y sont grandioses.

Impressive! especially at the time of the mass! and yet, I am not practicing and I had never seen that elsewhere (and even as it was only a ordinary celebration, one Saturday afternoon)
