Atypical restaurant offering garbures and generous dishes in Lourdes.
L'Ami Toulousain is run by Frédéric, who gives you a warm welcome. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, with the different tables talking to each other. The chef proposes a unique menu, from garbure to duck confit, a regional specialty. No choice, but a generous dish accompanied by a Roquefort salad and a gourmet coffee. As for the decor, you won't be disappointed: the brown Formica tables and flowery tureens and plates are reminiscent of grandma's house and crockery. An atypical address.

Came here for lunch with my family of six, including two old folks and two young kids on a weekday. The owner was very welcoming. He prepares, cooks, serves, clears and washes up all by himself. Yet he still served with a smile and humour.
There is only one set menu to order - consisting of 1) a cheese salad, 2) a duck confit stew (traditional Occitan garbure) and 3) coffee with dessert (chocolate cake and muffin). All for just €18. We ordered 4 sets, which was sufficient for the six of us. Special mention should be given to the duck, which slides off the bone easily and the tasty stew, although it’s slightly salty. The owner was also flexible enough to swap tea for coffee for those who couldn’t take coffee.
Overall a good experience and definitely not a tourist trap. Will return again when I’m back in Lourdes.
