MARCHÉ
The Bagnères-de-Bigorre market is undoubtedly one of the finest in the Hautes-Pyrénées department, and above all one of the largest to be awarded the "marché de pays" label. The market halls, with their superb Baltard-style architecture, are open every day, and are a regular haunt for the faithful, but the most important event of the week is Saturday morning. From 8:30am, local producers come to offer their fruit, vegetables, fresh produce and local products, in a friendly, lively atmosphere. The peasant spirit is still very much alive, and it's a real pleasure to chat with these representatives of agriculture, who sometimes come from the farthest reaches of the Baronnies; we advise you to make these encounters, they're simply rare. Then come the sellers of clothes, leather goods and accessories of all kinds. The stalls are numerous and varied, stretching all the way to the narrow streets and alleys of Les Coustous, and we're delighted to see that this market attracts crowds in summer and winter alike. You'll be able to pick up bargains until 1pm!
