Events calendar Martres-Tolosane

It was at the foot of the town Angonia that, according to legend, a battle was fought where Christian and Saracens fought. Vidian, the leader of Christian troops lost his life as well as several of his companions. Every year since the middle of the th century, this episode is commemorated in a solemn ceremony where the Martrais dressed in colourful costumes make thanks to their Patron Saint and reconstruct the battle.

The creators and craftsmen are present in Martres for the love of earthenware. The craftsmen master earthenware, ceramics, porcelain, stoneware, and travel from France, the Netherlands, Spain or Algeria to present their achievements. Since 2021, a space is dedicated to young designers from the Occitania region. They are invited to compete for the "Young Designer Prize". Workshops and demonstrations are offered to the public. The show is a must for lovers of art and traditions!

While most of the exhibits are made in reconstitué marble (the originals at the Saint-Raymond Museum in Toulouse), the interest of the museum's ancient statuary collection remains remarkable. Busts of the christian era are presented on the first floor with the gallery of the gods.
