Between Toulouse and Carcassonne, the Port Lauragais service area on the A61 freeway is one of the so-called "remarkable" service areas on the Vinci freeway network. Whether you are a freeway user or just a passing boater, you have more than one reason to stop at this unique area which has the particularity of hosting a river port! On the banks of the Canal du Midi, this freeway service area and port offers you since July 2022, after major renovation works, an exhibition space on four themes: the Canal du Midi, the pastel, the wind and the local products of the Lauragais. You will be able to learn more about these subjects, and all for free! You can also stock up at the Comptoir du Lauragais store, located between the two parking lots, and covering an area of 200m2. Brands and local products are highlighted. Finally, you should know that the site also houses the hotel and the restaurant La Dinée - lunch in local language - where you can taste, it is said, one of the best cassoulets of the region. A true link between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean via the A61 and A62 highways, this natural setting offers an idyllic setting that you certainly don't expect to see on a highway route. Some people enter the freeway upstream just to enjoy the special features and delicacies of the Port Lauragais area!
