THE COUNT'S CASTLE
Château in Aurignac, where during the summer months, fun workshops are offered on life in the Middle Ages.
Perched on a rocky spur, Aurignac has preserved vestiges of its fortified past. Climb up to the ruins of the château comtal, a stronghold built by Bernard V, Count of Comminges, around 1230, and its impressive 20-metre-high keep (now restored). Historically a watchtower, it proudly dominates the panorama. An orientation table offers a spectacular view of the Pyrenees mountain range. During the summer months, fun workshops are offered to give visitors an insight into life in the Middle Ages.
