HAMLET OF AURENQUE
The hamlet of Aurenque, on the banks of the Gers, boasts a Romanesque bridge spanning the river, an old water mill and a beautiful chapel
While the village of Castelnau-d'Arbieu is already very beautiful, perched on its hill, the commune has another little gem: the hamlet of Aurenque, almost on the edge of the Gers, halfway between Fleurance and Lectoure. In this region, it's rare to find such a charming spot in the hollow of a valley. The absence of a viewpoint is compensated for by the Romanesque bridge spanning the stream. A washhouse, a signposted footpath, a ruined watermill and a small cemetery next to a beautiful rural chapel all reflect the simplicity of rural life.
