Old mansion with terrace preparing a breakfast based on home-made products
You will undoubtedly fall under the charm of this old mansion in the middle of greenery, located at the exit of Saint-Affrique on the road to Albi. On 6 hectares (orchard, vegetable garden...), you will enjoy a large common room, library, TV, swimming pool and at the back of a beautiful terrace for lazing around. Don't miss the breakfast based on home-made products or the meals where you will be able to taste some of the hosts' specialities (pear and roquefort quiche, chicken à l'aveyronnaise, veal stew from Aubrac, garden vegetables, flaune...).

The menu " rooms hôtes" is different from the hotel and if you like the friendliness and family spirit is what to suit you to find in Laurence and Stephan who dedicated to create this atmosphere and please guests! In this fine residence they do not to improve the comfortable rooms and the banks where to make you from beautiful outdoor mixing with the orchard and garden. After the aperitif. guests can enjoy light meals with organic vegetables that Stephan cooks with its know-how accompagés a wine country what makes the menu " all compris" attractive.

I tried to leave a opinion on the visitors' book from Domaine du Vern: in clean, it seems that it was censured by the hotel (one already saw a service provider putting a gold book available for its guests, but tearing off the pages are not completely favourable for him?). In fact you will find in this gold book only dithyrambic appreciations, except for one, but also excessive and caricatural that the owner did not have any problem to return to his advantage.
My opinion however seemed objective and temperate, in any case served me for potential customers of this hotel. I leave you judges:
On this gold book, I to note 66 appreciations, including 65 favourable, even enthusiastic and one (exaggeratedly) negative. That does not seem really aim, and I will be for my part more temperate.
We stayed in the domaine du VERN from August 20th to August 22nd, 2012. The hotel ones had insisted on the welcoming and friendly atmosphere that they a see reigning with them and among the guests. We were not disappointed, Stéphane and Laurence have art to people at ease and to create a warm climate between the participants, a priori often very different. The swimming pool has been reliable, especially in this scorching period.
We however were disappointed by our room at €62: small, wardrobe, cupboard, wardrobe, or crystal on the wall. The bathroom with bathtub- shoes, as well as the toilets, in the corridor and were divided with other guests (a first for we who have practised guestrooms for thirty years). The meal (€23) was heavy, with quality ingredients, but simple (in three days, once sausages of Toulouse and twice chicken). During our reservation, Laurence had stated us that we must to be a minimum of three nights, this in order to benefit from the climate of conviviality that they are attached so much. We accepted, but strangely we did not have the corresponding discount (€21), reason that one of the nights was paid by means of a souvenir voucher SMARTBOX (a bit like if, in a shopping, offer were not applicable when you uses a purchase order!).
In conclusion, Stéphane, setting commercial converted, created a quality ingredients, which can promote and sell. But in good value service remains for us only average. In this experience taught us that the practice of souvenir vouchers type SMARTBOX was to be avoided, especially in high season: it is interesting neither at the hotel (dixit Stephan), or for guests. "
