Museum presenting the history of Mazères from Neolithic times to the present day

This museum presents the history of Mazères from Neolithic times to the present day. A garden designed in the purest spirit of the Renaissance surrounds this beautiful building. You'll discover an exhibition on the cultivation and history of pastel, reproductions of medieval weapons, and a permanent exhibition entitled "Barbarians in Southern Gaul". It features objects excavated from a Merovingian necropolis. Visitors are invited to become real archaeologists, to find out who was buried there.

I am amazed how few people from around here take advantage of this gem. It is really amazing for such a small museum with Gallo Roman, Merovingian, and Medieval artifacts, a great display about the history of the town and the Pastel industry here, and many educational demonstrations on topics like glass making in the Middle Ages, blacksmithing, fabric making and dyeing, etc.
