THE DOLMENS

The Ariège has fifteen dolmens in the whole department. The eleven dolmens to be discovered are in a relatively small area. All similar in architecture, they differ in size and location. The materials and human bones discovered during the excavations have made it possible to date these buildings to the Bronze Age, and to give indications on the funeral rites of this period. A hiking trail allows you to discover three of the most spectacular and best preserved of these buildings.
