Jean-Marie Bechtold has run this 12-hectare estate, which has been certified organic since 2010. Part of his vineyard is planted in Grand Cru Engelberg, a rare oolitic limestone terroir. A disused quarry cuts through the hillside, providing a glimpse of this exceptional terroir: the geological strata extend to a depth of 30 meters. While Rieslings from the Engelberg Grand Cru are renowned, another terroir is of particular interest: the Obere Hund, which is ideal for exceptional Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.

After with wine Mr Bechtold restaurant With Lime Tree next to, we visited producer the following day and bought after tasting some good bottles, including late grape harvest. Mr Bechtold likes undoubtedly his profession E can speak with pomposity and it shares his passion for vineyards and wine that he grows with love. An excellent address in Alsace!
