Belfry of Thionville with 4 old bells, on the market place, proposing a visit on the occasion of certain events
No, you haven't lost your way - you're in Lorraine! At the end of the 14th century, the burghers of Thionville built a belfry on the market square. Altered several times, it eventually took on the silhouette we know today. The belfry provides access to four old bells (dating from 1656, 1689, 1746 and 1844 respectively), the most famous of which is the "grosse Suzanne". In 1980, it was listed on the Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques. The belfry can be visited on special occasions.
