After his inauguration in 1965, the stadium was renamed the name of one of the Boniface brothers (the eldest named André), famous international at the hinge of the 1950 s and 1960 s. Guy Boniface, who died in 1968, then 31 years old, had 35 French team selections at the three-quarter centre and won the French Championship with Mont-de-Marsan in 1963.
