The Barrès monument, the work of the architect Achille Duchesne and the sculptor René Grand-Colas in Saxon-Sion.
Maurice Barrès, a twentieth-century politician and writer, left his mark on his era and his region. Barrès' nationalism left its mark. The monument dedicated to him stands at 520 m, at the top of the hill of Sion, in a place called "Le Signal" in Vaudémont. It is the work of architect Achille Duchesne and sculptor René Grand-Colas. The Barrès monument is made of Euville stone, quarried in the neighboring Meuse department. The sides of the base feature various quotations from Barrès' work.
