FROST BRIDGE
Emblem par excellence of the Mussipontian city, it is he who gives his name to the city: Pont-à-Mousson. The existence of this powerful work of art dates back to the 12th century. At that time, it was common to impose a crossing tax, a toll for certain goods. Crossing the Moselle for centuries, it provides the link between the Mousson mound and the two banks of the city: Saint-Laurent and Saint-Martin. Alternating over time the phases of construction, destruction and reconstruction, the bridge retains its historical and symbolic charge: it gave birth to the City of the Bridge. Today, it bears the name of the architect Gélot, his last saviour. For the little anecdote, at the beginning of 2019, a newspaper reader handed over a photo of the Gélot Bridge which brings back many memories since it represents the workers who participated in the reconstruction of the bridge.
