Visit the magnificent Villa Majorelle, one of the most remarkable in Nancy and a listed historic monument.

A jewel of the École de Nancy and an Art Nouveau "show house", the Villa Majorelle remains by far one of the city's most remarkable buildings. Commissioned by decorator and cabinetmaker Louis Majorelle from architect Henri Sauvage, it was built between 1901 and 1902 and decorated by numerous artists of the period. Listed as a historic monument in 1996, it remained closed for a long time. Undergoing major restoration work, the house reopened its doors in 2021, and is only partially open to the public upon reservation. A must-see Nancy gem.

Actuellement, l'extérieur est en restauration et totalement invisible car recouvert de divers échafaudages et bâches : la fin du chantier prévue pour les Journées du patrimoine 2017. Les visites guidées de la villa sont maintenues toute l'année, les samedis et dimanches, sur inscription au tarif réduit de 4 euros.
Conduite par une guide spécialisée très compétente, la visite de l'intérieur est passionnante : mobilier intéressant, spectaculaire cheminée dans la salle à manger, etc. ; il faut espérer que l'intérieur soit également restauré puisque, progressivement, tous les organismes y ayant des bureaux vont en partir.

Visite très intéressante et quasi incontournable si vous êtes sur Nancy. Attention, peu de créneaux horaires pour les visites et il faut réserver! Pour continuer sur le thème "Art Nouveau" faire le parcours pédestre (dépliant disponible à l'office du tourisme)

Art Nouveau is unmissable in Nancy and the Majorelle villa is a superb house of this style, not to be missed. The minimum is to see it street with a walking path Art Nouveau, but it is better to see the garden and the interior for the furniture and the stained-glass windows (on the other hand you must ask for guided tours which are not necessarily available days and times that suits you).
