FORT HAXO

Fort Haxo was built at the end of the 19th century as part of the Séré de Rivières system. After several transformations, by 1914 it was one of France's most heavily armored forts, with four artillery turrets. Shelled by the Germans in August 1914, it lasted only a few days, suffering heavy damage. The fort was sold by the Army to a private owner in 1935. Today, the HCF Haxo association carries out research and organizes visits. Legend has it that the fort is haunted!
