LONGWY-BAS
The old and imposing Banque de France regularly hosts exhibitions
A passage to Longwy-Bas is necessary. On Place Leclerc, the hall of the administrative town hall is decorated with rich mouldings. Commemorative plaques are made of Longwy enamels. One of them recalls that the city of Longwy is decorated with the Legion of Honour, by decree of 20 September 1919, for having "resisted the invader of 1914, as during the three sieges of 1792, 1815 and 1870". On the one hand, the former and imposing Banque de France regularly hosts exhibitions. On the other hand, the old thermal baths, a surprising building. A little further on, a superb small park invites you to take a walk. A sculpture highlights the valiant Joan of Arc. At the foot of an imposing war memorial, a waterfall flows over several fountains... Heavily affected by the disappearance of steel factories, Longwy-Bas now includes the headquarters of several banks, insurance companies and other businesses.
