TREASURE OF THE CHURCH OF AMBAZAC
In its architecture, the church of Ambazac does not differ particularly. It is composed of a unique nave of three spans ending by a flat chevet choir. Its stairs and wrought iron chandeliers attract attention. But what is particularly important in this building is its two exceptional pieces: a socket and a dalmatique inherited from the treasures of Grandmont Abbey. The remarkable socket, known as Saint-Etienne-de-Wall (late th century), is a very large piece of work. In thin, repoussé, repoussé, stampings, stampings copper plates, it is decorated with blue-dominated champlevés enamels, with over 300 centre of stone and glass beads. It was exhibited in New York in 2016. The dalmatique, a liturgical clothing reserved for deacons whose fabric is enriched by a Christian and Arabic decor, would have been brought by Saint-Etienne and was probably offered by Mathilde, wife of the Germanic Emperor Henri V. These two pieces enjoyed international renown.
