THE MONEYROUX HOTEL
The Moneyroux Hotel is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city
Unjustly called "Château des comtes de la Marche", the Hotel des Moneyroux is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. Built in the 15th century by order of Antoine Allard, it is composed of two wings at right angles that overlook a courtyard. If you look closely, you can recognize the flamboyant Gothic style which heralds the Renaissance, notably thanks to the presence of mullioned windows. The palace underwent some alterations in the 16th century, including the addition of monumental fireplaces with painted decoration. Since 1962, the mansion has been the seat of the General Council (now the Departmental Council) of Creuse, so it can only be visited with a guide and by appointment.
