BOUSSAC CASTLE
It was in this impressive château that the famous Lady of the Unicorn tapestries were discovered.
Standing on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Petite Creuse valley, the impressive Château de Boussac was built in the 12th-13th centuries, before being remodeled in the 16th-17th centuries. George Sand often stayed here, setting part of her country novel Jeanne. It was here that she discovered the famous Lady and the Unicorn tapestries. These extraordinary works adorned the Salle des Gardes until 1882; they can now be seen at the Musée de Cluny (Paris). Furnished lounges, monumental staircase, chapel... This jewel of Creusois heritage is a must-see.
