MARBLE CASTLE
Villa in 1247 when Etienne de Salaignac became Lord of Marèges, watchtower on the eve of the Hundred years War, Marèges became a Castle since the end of the th century. He passed from generation to generation, from father to son most often, from uncle to nephew a few times. On three occasions, it is women who have ensured their transmission: Françoise de Salaignac in the th century, Angélique Ecdm du Gibanel and his daughter, Marie-Angélique of Saint-martial de Conros in the th century. Witness of the past, the castle has been modified several times and adapted to the needs and tastes of the generations that follow it: its towers have been lowered, its stairs have been ploughed… and replaced by a beautiful staircase style Napoleon III.
