LA FÊTE DES SORCIÈRES (LA FESTA DE LES BRUIXES)

Every year at the end of October, Tresserre celebrates the Catalan witches. After a little ugliness of the occasion - pointed black hat, beautiful warts, bushy eyebrows, long fingernails and hooked nose - witches from all walks of life park their latest broomsticks in Tresserre. Children aged 2 to 101 are invited to join in the festivities: circus and street parades, fire shows, wanderings, wild concerts and a host of other activities for young and old alike keep the village alive right up to the end of the nit (night). The "icy" witch's lair and workshops for apprentice bruixes and bruixots (pronounced "brouches and brouchottes") delight children. A good magic potion, in moderation, for an unusual festival that brings young and old together in good spirits... and don't be mistaken, it's really the witches' festival, not Halloween!
