In ancient times, Ruscino was a renowned site, which later gave rise to the name Roussillon. Archaeological digs have unearthed a wealth of pottery, everyday objects and jewelry, as well as the foundations of huts and tombs, proving its prosperity well into the Middle Ages. Archaeological workshops for children are organized during the Zone C school vacations, and guided tours are well worth a visit.
