L'Indépendant is one of the oldest newspapers in France still in operation. It is headquartered in Perpignan, with two editions in the Aude, in Narbonne and Carcassonne. Belonging to the Midi-Libre group and then bought by the La Dépêche group, L'Indépendant has kept its editorial line and its vintage typography. Its online newspaper is very popular.
