The Vivre en Béguinage association supports the creation of béguinages, inclusive habitats for independent seniors that combine conviviality, security and autonomy. Currently, 18 béguinages are open or planned in France (Tours, Paray-le-Monial, Le Mans, Agen, Montmorillon, Albi, Perpignan, Tarbes, Castelnau-le-Lez, Dole, Bergerac, Smarves, Saint-Martin-Belle-Roche, Marmande, Ille-sur-Têt, Le Boulou, La Trinité and La Ravine des Cabris). The aim of these projects is to provide seniors with an intergenerational living environment that encourages mutual aid and social ties.
