ILLE-SUR-TÊT SACRED ART CENTER
The basic premise was that each town of Roussillon has in its church some remarkable pieces by their quality, their age or their rarity. The churches of small communities often remain closed, some works therefore could never be presented to the public. Which is damaging regarding local heritage. The Centre d’Art Sacré d’Ille-sur-Têt, with the agreement of the mayors and the priests of these cities, intends to show all these objects, to maintain them and to include them in theme-based exhibitions of varying duration. These exhibitions are therefore revolving, lively and sometimes grow rich by special collections. They have for setting the hospice of Ille, monument eminently representative of the regional architectural mixing. Thanks to this initiative, the inhabitants of the region and passing curious have the opportunity to discover a heritage which was once invisible.
