THE CASTLE OF FLORAC

The public establishment of the Cevennes National Park has its administrative headquarters in the castle of Florac. Located in the heart of the city, it is part of the discovery tours. Rebuilt in 1652 after the wars of religion, on the site of the old feudal castle (of which there is mention from the beginning of the 13th century), the castle was sold to the State in 1810, transformed into a prison, then into a hospital. Since 1976, it is the seat of the National Park, which has restored it. The National Park presents permanent exhibitions.
