Le Villard, owned by the Episcopate, overlooks the Lot valley.
Le Villard, perched at the top of the Lot valley, was a strategic site in the Middle Ages. Like the Château de Chanac, it belonged to the bishopric, and served as a refuge for the bishops from royal troops. After being damaged during the Wars of Religion, the site was gradually abandoned in favor of Chanac, before being completely abandoned in the 18th century. Restored in the 1980s, the site now offers a unique glimpse of a medieval episcopal fortress. This part of the site is open to visitors all year round.
