After discovering in an original way Annecy, Nantes or Saint-Malo through the eyes and voice of Aurelia, the web series Les Carte postcards d'Aurelia for Expedia takes us to Montpellier to discover a city which is a sweet place to live. In summer, the Place de La Comédie, but also countless plots scattered in the old Montpellier, offer daytime and evening entertainment or coolness and relaxation. Montpellier is also very proud of its faculty of medicine, one of the oldest in Europe, its prosperous trade, its rich, merchants and bourgeois, and its students. And Aurelia has found some good plans to enjoy it. Follow the guide!

Discovery of the olive-growing

In the first part of the country for the production of table olives, Aurelia enjoys the olive Lucques, renowned for being the most tasty. This local olive is a dark green, lumpy, fruit, like a crescent moon, a very small nucleus and a fine pulp. Thanks to its almond flavours, it is so well known that it is exported to North Africa, Turkey, United States and Australia. When you taste it, its flesh is firm and crunchy with a delicate taste, and is one of the on top of the list of the summer aperitifs. And the lucky Aurelia naturally ends up with a small tasting quiz with Laëtitia, the producer who made her discover this Herault speciality.

An unforgettable macaroon

After the olives, let's enjoy the dessert at Thierry Papereux. The Languedoc chef had the original idea to divert the Montpellier's grisette, the famous local acidulous candy to integrate it in a macaroon bearing the colours of the city. A great success which the passing gourmets must not fail to enjoy. Especially since the grisette, made from liquorice or honey, is said to have therapeutic virtues… "Perhaps the best macaroon I've ever enjoyed" will say Aurelia. To try!

The history of the apothecaries of Montpellier

For his last discovery, Aurelia is welcomed by Marie-Sophie at the Pharmacy museum "Albert Ciurana", from the name of its creator. Many objects and documents are presented here: pots, beds, furniture, models, musical instruments, and archives, which allow us to imagine this past universe. In an intimate atmosphere, the museum thus tells the fascinating history of the trade. In addition to be the only museum of pharmacy of this importance located on a university site, it has especially a "crazy charm" according to Aurelia. A beautiful visit in perspective.
