MAS DES CABRETTES
In 1936, the grandfather came down from the Cévennes with his herd of goats in search of a mas. He arrived at Saint-Nazaire-des-Gardies and saw a large, hundred-year-old oak tree near the Mas des Cabrières. He stopped there and when he woke up, his goats refused to go back on the road because of the heat. He walked up to the farmhouse and met the owner, who offered him a glass of wine and the chance to sell him the place. For 5 generations now, the Pitot family has been working the vines, sometimes on horseback, and preserving ancient grape varieties.
