In Reunion, the grandfather sold small shortbread, then he bought a bakery-pastry shop. In 1977, the Friand de la Grande Motte was born, with a rapid development. In 1990 Jean-Yves, one of his two sons, set up Friand II in Grau-du-Roi. He died accidentally and it was his daughter Émilie, after an intensive apprenticeship, who took over the business in 2006. Émilie inherited from her grandfather and her father the rigour, the work and the same high standards. Everything is made on the spot: macaroons, chocolates, breads of all kinds, and a range of focaccia.
