Organized visit to one of the major archaeological sites of southern Roman Gaul, with a superb view of the surrounding area
One of the major archaeological sites of the Roman Gaul of the South. Dominating the Rhone corridor, it is today constituted of an oppidum located on a rocky peak whose ascent will offer you a superb panorama on the surroundings. Once occupied by a Celto-Ligurian agglomeration, then by a Gallo-Roman city, the site reached the peak of its activity in the High Middle Ages. The 18-hectare site is freely accessible, but guided tours are offered by the municipal heritage department. An explanatory sheet can be found on the city's website.
