THE ALLÈGRE CASTLE
A castle 275 meters above sea level, hosting guided tours offered by L'Association de Sauvegarde du Château d'Allègre
Standing at an altitude of 275 metres on a hectare and a half of land, the château offers incredible views of the Cévennes and Mont Bouquet. Its remarkable ruins are all that remain of the knightly village that once sheltered here in the 11th century. The Association de Sauvegarde du Château d'Allègre brings these stone vessels back to life, notably by offering tours and events, including the medieval festival on the3rd Saturday in July. Every first Saturday, volunteers get together to carry out work and maintenance on the site.

Wasnt exactly full of up to date signs or info, but a quick google beforehand let us know this was the expected and frankly was what made it all the better in some ways as it wasnt a comercialised money pit with strict rules. You could explore like a kid again!
Common sense required while exploring as its in a serious state of disrepair!!!
Loved it and great views, was brilliant to have signs in English too, please consider these while its being restored x
