Cathedral Saint-Jean-Baptiste of Alès, classified as a historical monument, offering a stylistic panel of architectural languages

Originally built on the site of a Gallo-Roman temple and destroyed during the Wars of Religion, it was rebuilt in neoclassical style in the 17th century and became a cathedral under Louis XIV. Listed as a historic monument since 1914, and renovated over a 25-year period until 2023, it offers a stylistic range combining Romanesque, Gothic and neoclassical architectural styles, adorned with faithfully restored works by Joseph Marinelli and Antoine Sublet.
